How we work

“Their promise of handing over an amazing play area in just 8 weeks was met. A glowing report from the safety inspectors has meant that Leeds Castle has now opened a fantastic facility for children aged 7 years and under. Already our visitors are giving us great feedback on the imagination that has been sparked in their children by the imagination of the designers.”

Shane Guy, Head of Tourism, Leeds Castle Foundation

Meet the team

As a team, we have worked with destinations, attractions, landowners and dreamers across the world to create exceptional places for every imagination.

Simon Egan

Project Developer Fella

Simon originally trained as a Fine Art Sculptor and is the leader of our team. But even with this art based background, he’s now producing the most creative work of his life – it’s his initial vision that starts bringing spaces and places to life, where he is best is in imagining how a site can work.

Jack Coleman

Captain Jack

Jack joined the onsite build team having worked with Jim and Simon at BeWILDerwood. His build skills are legendary as is his ability to kick back and relax. Jack is also our part time videographer on site and many of our drone and flyover videos have been shot by him during his time on site.

Johnny Lyle

Attention Seeker

Johnny leads the marketing for CAP.Co and our attraction partners. After 22 years of running a brand consultancy, the lure of outdoor adventure drew him into the team. He'd previously been Marketing Director of Treehouse Company who built BeWILDerwood and where many of the team started working together.

Jim Wales

Jim is our Build Director and originally trained as a cabinet maker, moving onto The Treehouse Company, where he developed his experience of timber construction building and crafted some of the world’s finest treehouses across the globe. There is no project too much for him and his build teams.

Bob Ottaway

Numbers Punk

Bob took the classic route of Lion Taming via accountancy after a career at KPMG. He now adds a commercial management to our team ensuring our Projects run beautifully from first contact, right through to the last day on-site. He is also exceptional at Financial masterplanning.

Steve Vass

Steve’s experience in wooden adventure play is longer than everyone else in the team, apart from McJum as he was also part of the world-renowned Treehouse Company design team. You can see his work in the unbelievable Alnwick Castle Treehouse and throughout the UK and Europe.

Freddie Egan

Play Space Cadet

Freddie is our resident Landscape Architect and Masterplanner. Having studied for his Masters in Edinburgh, he went on to work for a leading landscape architecture firm before deciding the call of our play was too strong and joined our team in 2015 to lead our design and project presentation.

Paul Travers

Paul has been a ‘friend of the family’ since 2005, having been a designer within the original Treehouse Company team. His role is to streamline and improve the design and production process and project manage some of our bigger projects, to ensure we continue to meet time and budget requirements every time.

Jono Burgess

Professor Play

Dr. Jono is a genuine doctor of play, with both academic and practical experience of designing amazing adventure play. During his Master's in Landscape Architecture, Jono's research focused on the value of play. He brings this knowledgeable approach to designing and building, specialising in accessible play.

Jas Hinks

Jas is one half of the epic Tiny House Duo and supports the team in writing and researching copy and content for the site and for our presentation materials. As a fully qualified and experienced Curator, it’s the best organised and perfectly punctuated copy ever.

Rosie Egan

Miss Manage

Rosie ensures that when a new project starts on site, the team get there on time and with all their accommodation in place so they can hit the ground running. She’s super organised and also a part time Punk, working with our Numbers Punk on all things finance too.

Chris Moore

Mr McTech

Chris divides his time between building on site and creating technical drawings for CAP.Co's projects. He joined the team following 3 years leading the Timber Project in Greece and along the Balkan route, building shelters, community facilities and play spaces for refugees.

George Browne

Head Stripper

George works at our timber yard managing our huge stock of chestnut poles which we source locally, dry carefully and prepare for future jobs. He ensures they are perfectly seasoned, stripped of their bark before being hand picked and cut to size for each project.

Alex egan

Alex is our resident artist. Her sketches and artistic impressions help to bring our design concepts to life. Alex's creative eye and hand have also given the finishing touch to many of our projects, inside some of our most magical structures.

Once again I need to relay some feedback on your team, who were first class to work with. Extremely friendly and very accommodating with working around the general public, I can’t speak highly enough of them. Please pass on my thanks.
